I started playing with my new recording interface tonight (Focusrite Saffire LE) for the first time to see if there's a noticable difference between my cables. I've been skeptical of the hype concerning this cable over another, but what I found shocked me. There is a definite difference, and now I'm just hoping to resist putting out more money to replace some cables tomorrow. Neither of these are the oober-expensive cables you can get through places like lavacable.com. One is a $40 10 ft. planet waves, the other a $20 18 ft. Monster. Both had my tele plugged in direct. http://www.languagepool.net/music/Cable%20test%20- %20Planet%20Waves.mp3 http://www.languagepool.net/music/Cable%20test%20-%20Monster .mp3 |

A friend showed me years ago about the differences in cables I thought he was joking! |

A cable is just a big weird capacitor (and to a lessor extent a resistor too) between hot and ground. When you think of it that way it makes perfect sense that it would change the sound, and significantly. |

I doubted that cable would make a difference until I made my own. I bought some Starquad cable (I believe it's made by Mogami), and som Neutrik connectors and soldered my own. The difference was very noticable. Before that I was using the cheaper line of Hosa cables from the local guitar shop. |
